We offer a range of clinics and services at the surgery. There are some tasks you can do, such as health reviews, using our online forms.

Active lifestyle advisor

  • Held by: practice nurse
  • Time: by appointment with practice nurse

New patients are booked in to have their new patient check with the healthcare assistant who performs checks i.e. height, weight, blood pressure, smoking status. Appropriate advice on weight management, smoking cessation and alcohol is given. Any current medication is reviewed any chronic diseases are identified and further appointments offered to attend relevant clinics.

Antenatal clinic

  • Held by: midwife
  • Time: Wednesday mornings

Ladies are booked in to see the midwife as soon as the pregnancy is confirmed. Midwife gives information on topics such as diet and lifestyle considerations, pregnancy care services available, maternity benefits. Blood tests and urine test are done. Ultrasound scans are arranged. Any concerns are discussed with the G.P. Patients are followed up throughout their pregnancy on a regular interval till the baby is delivered.

Asthma clinic

These clinics are run to recognise the symptoms of asthma and initiate appropriate treatment. Patients are identified by either the G.Ps or practice nurse and are given a full asthma check, which includes- patients symptoms, peak flow, height and weight, smoking status and cessation advice, inhaler use and monitor technique, patient education, self management plan and advice. Any issues and concerns are discussed with the G.P.

Cervical smear

This clinic is run by the nurse. Eligible patients are invited to have a smear test done at the practice.

Chlamydia screening

  • Held by: practice nurse
  • Time: by appointment with practice nurse

Chlamydia screening is carried out by practice nurse.

COPD clinic

  • Held by: practice nurse
  • Time: by appointment with practice nurse

Full COPD check is offered to patients with COPD. This check includes spirometry and several parameters to assess the severity of the disease for better management of the condition. Medication review and compliance is checked. Appropriate advice regarding lifestyle is given and full support is provided to manage the disease better.

Counselling

  • Time: Friday mornings every week by appointment

Referrals are made by the doctors who identify patients with anxiety and depression and are in need for counselling. Full mental health assessment is carried out by the mental health worker and appropriate advice/treatment given and referrals made if needed. Further mental health reviews are carried out to check progress.

Diabetes clinic

These clinics are run for the management of Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes. Patients are given a full diabetic check according to Dudley Diabetic Guidelines, and are reviewed regularly. Any relevant tests i.e. blood test, urine test are carried out. Lifestyle, diet, exercise advice given. Personal health plan given to patient for self management. Any concerns are discussed with G.P

Family planning clinic

These clinics are run to address any sexual health concerns you might have with the practice nurse. Different types of contraception methods are discussed with an emphasis on Long Acting Reversible Contraception as being the best option. Pre-conception advice is also given.

Healthy weight clinic

Obesity is the root cause of many major diseases. This nurse led clinic provides help and support in weight reduction for obese patients. Advice and support is given regarding weight, lifestyle, exercise, diet, smoking.

Health reviews

16-74 year olds

You will be offered a health review when you join the practice. Any patients aged 16 –74 years who have not had a consultation within the last three years may request a consultation.

Over 75’s

Patients 75 years and over who have not had a consultation within the last 12 months may request a health review with one of our practice team.

Heart disease clinic

These clinics are run for the prevention or management of any cardiovascular disease. Appropriate health checks are carried out with life style advice given. Any current medication is reviewed and further referral made if needed.

Hypertension clinic

These clinics are run by the practice nurse for the detection, prevention and management of high blood pressure. Medication is reviewed and lifestyle advice is given.

Medication reviews

  • Held by: Dr K Sanikop and also by our pharmacist S Khan
  • Time: by appointment

Medication reviews are carried out on all patients on any medication yearly.

Minor surgery clinic

  • Time: by appointment only

Doctors perform basic minor surgery procedures, including Joint injections.

Child immunisation clinic

  • Held by: practice nurse
  • Time: every Tuesday afternoon

These clinics are run to look after children until they are 5 years of age. The health visitor provides the parents with a red book containing all the information relating to the child developmental checks and immunisation required to protect their child. All the child health checks are carried out from newborn to school entry which includes hearing test, vision test, height, weight. Practice follows DoH guidelines when performing these checks. Childhood vaccines are given by the practice nurse.

New patient check-ups

All new patients are given an appointment to see the practice nurse who performs a new patient check. This check includes checks i.e. height, weight, blood pressure, smoking status and advice, alcohol intake and advice. Any chronic diseases are identified, medication reviewed and further appointments arranged for appropriate clinics.

Phlebotomy clinic

  • Time: Thursday 9:00am-1:00pm

Blood tests are carried out by the phlebotomist in practice.

Postnatal checks

  • Held by: doctor or practice nurse
  • Time: by appointment with doctor or practice nurse

Postnatal checks are usually carried out 6 weeks after delivery. If a patient wishes to have a postnatal check, then please book in to see either the doctor or the practice nurse invited to have their postnatal visit 6 weeks after the delivery.  Smear test is offered if due, any concerns re breast feeding or any other child related issues are discussed. Any issues related to mother’s or baby’s health are discussed.

Smoking cessation clinic

Full support and encouragement is given to patients who wish to quit smoking. Patients are provided with full prescription aids and are followed up regularly to monitor progress.

Travel health clinic

  • Held by: practice nurse
  • Time: by appointment with practice nurse

Our practice nurse gives advice on your travel destinations. Travel vaccinations are given if required. For routine protection against Tetanus and Polio, please make appointments with the practice nurse.

We offer a full range of vaccinations for foreign travel. To make an enquiry regarding which vaccinations you may need for your travel, please complete our Travel Risk Assessment form or ask reception for a travel questionnaire form for you to complete and hand in. We will then contact you to book an appointment with the nurse for your vaccinations. Please allow 4-6 weeks before your departure date so that this process can be completed. Please note that not all travel vaccinations are free of charge.

Referral to other services

You will be referred to services i.e. audiology, physiotherapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, optometry, as these services are commissioned by the Dudley ICB and are not provided in the practice.
